    Training process of Mentors:
    Mentors will undergo a 9 week TAFE training course in Mentoring in the Community. This course will be offered one day a week for 2.5 hours over the 9 week period.

    Mentor Screening: Yes, screening is provided for mentors
    Mentor screening process:
    All Mentors are nominated by their employer. They provide two personal referees and are mandated to complete the 'Prohibited Employment Declaration Form'. All Mentors undergo a complete Working With Children Check prior to being matched with a Mentee.

    Mentor Position Description:
    To meet with a mentee to assist them to progress their employment goals by providing support, guidance and advice based upon the mentors employment experience and skills. To assist the mentee to develop a better understanding of workplace behaviour and expectations and gain access to employment.

    What is the minimum commitment required of the Mentor:
    Mentors commit to working with one young person over a six month duration. The usual commitment is an average of one hour per week. Mentors are encouraged to offer an ongoing mentoring relationship with the young person once the structured program has finished, providing it is mutually desired.

    Program Details:

    Youth Employment Mentoring Program linking disadvantaged young people with employment mentors who are currently employed in the local community. Break Through aims to increase a young person's access to employment and improve their employability skills and potential through one to one employment focused mentoring as part of a six month structured program including 15 face to face mentoring sessions.
